Why Juicing is a Lifestyle, Not a Fad

Tayana Carper • Jun 20, 2022

Whether you’re in the best shape of your life or you’re struggling with illness, aches, pains, or low energy, a lifestyle of juicing will enhance your health and improve your body’s ability to function at the highest level. Juicing can be used temporarily or infrequently and provide positive results, but when incorporated into your daily routine on a permanent basis, juicing can revamp your overall health from the inside out and help you to feel your best.

Juicing as a Preventative Lifestyle

Our bodies are made up of over 7 trillion cells and are constantly reproducing new cells. Our DNA controls cellular reproduction; however, our DNA can be damaged by all of the free radicals we are exposed to on a daily basis. Free radicals are found in soaps and household cleaning products, in air pollutants, processed foods, alcohol, and drugs. Whether we consciously choose to consume these things or not, our bodies are still exposed to them consistently. Free radicals attack cells and damage DNA. When cells reproduce, they end up being deformed and not able to perform their jobs effectively. This leads to illness and disease.

Antioxidants are the defenders against free radical damage because they prevent free radicals from bonding to our cells. Drinking raw, organic, cold-pressed juices can combat the damage that free radicals do to our cells because they deliver antioxidants directly to our system.

In What’s Juicin’s juicing method, we use 4000 lbs. of cold pressure to extract the highest possible amount of antioxidants and 3-5 times higher nutrient and enzyme levels than the body would receive from eating raw fruits and vegetables or drinking juice from a traditional juicer that uses heat and friction in the extraction process. Additionally, your body doesn’t have to digest and break down the nutrients in our juices as it would when you eat, so the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and nutrients get to your system faster and in greater quantities.

The antioxidant levels in our juices not only help to remove free radicals, but they also aid in cellular repair. This leads to more energy, decreased inflammation, healthier skin, and less illness and disease, so you can see why juicing on a regular basis is essential to health maintenance and disease prevention.

Some of the benefits of regular juicing are:

Juicing provides a variety of benefits , including helping your body absorb more nutrients from fruits and vegetables. With our busy lifestyles, it is difficult to take in the appropriate amount of nutrients from fruits and vegetables, our diets are often not ideal, and digestion is affected. Drinking raw, organic, cold-pressed juices allows the digestive system to take a break while our bodies can easily absorb essential nutrients.

Cold-pressed juicing delivers heat-sensitive nutrients. When vegetables and other foods are heated or cooked, they lose the micronutrients that our bodies need. We still get those nutrients by drinking cold-pressed juices because they haven’t been exposed to heat during the juicing process.
Juicing is a quick and easy way to get your daily dose of vegetables.

Can you realistically eat 10 servings of fruits and vegetables a day? Most of us are much too busy to take time to eat that much. Drinking a juice or two per day is a great way to get those fruits and veggies without spending hours munching on raw foods.

Our immune systems are essential for health. The immune system is made up of cells and organs that attack foreign bodies, pathogens, bacteria, and toxins that could harm our bodies. White blood cells, produced in our bone marrow, are the cells that fight infection and disease, and organs like the skin, spleen, and lymph nodes also play important roles in ridding the body of invasive pathogens while acting as barriers against infection. The proper functioning of our immune system is directly connected to our health and quality of life, which is why it’s so important to do our part in maintaining and boosting our immune responses. One way to improve immunity is to drink cold-pressed, organic fruit and vegetable juices. Many of the nutrients found in these raw juices assist and support the immune system, enabling us to fight off infection and disease. Here are some of the top fruit and vegetable juices and their benefits to the immune system: Apple, Carrot & Orange: Combines fiber and antioxidants to boost the immune system, fight inflammation, and keep cells healthy, while beta-carotene protects cells from damage caused by oxidation. Spinach, Kale & Parsley: Full of vitamins A, C and B-6, calcium, and iron, which all improve immune cell function. B-6 promotes production of immune cells in the bone marrow. Grapefruit & Orange: Provides vitamin C overload and significant amounts of vitamins A and B-6, and zinc, all which contribute to fighting infection, healing wounds, and strengthening the immune system. Kale, Tomato, & Cherry: Packed with antioxidants that help eliminate disease, germs, and viruses. Beet, Carrot, Ginger, & Turmeric: Reduces inflammation during an infection, and contains iron, calcium, and vitamins A and C. Watermelon: Wards off muscle soreness, a side effect of the common cold. Contains magnesium and zinc. Mango & Strawberry: The vitamin E in this combo helps prevent cancer, is an anti-inflammatory that fights viruses, and prevents germs from causing infection. Aside from the positive effects these juices have on the immune system, they’re also incredibly delicious! Check out What’s Juicin’s selection of immune boosting fruit and vegetable juices and give your immune system a tasty head start!

You may be hearing a lot about the beneficial effects of a juice cleanse, but maybe you’re not sure you should or could do one. Juice cleanses are typically done for anywhere between 1-7 days, and believe it or not, you’ll actually be consuming a decent amount of calories, so you shouldn’t feel tired or dizzy if you’re doing it the right way. If you have any health conditions, check with your physician before starting a cleanse. Here are some points to consider before, during, and after a juice cleanse: Prior to Your Juice Cleanse Determine Your Motivation Whether you want to jump start your health journey, lose weight, undo a period of unhealthy food and drink choices, or give your body a chance to recover and renew, it's good to know why you want to do a juice cleanse because this reason will serve as the goal that motivates your cleanse. Choose a Convenient Time Completing a juice cleanse requires some planning. You’ll want to pick days of the week and dates that won’t interfere with social events or responsibilities that could knock you off track. Your cleanse will require you to consume significant amounts of juice at specific intervals throughout the day. So, you’ll want to be able to keep an eye on the clock, be close to a restroom, and avoid solid food temptations. A quiet weekend at home is a great time to do a juice cleanse. During Your Juice Cleanse Drink Enough! Daily intake of juice should amount to at least six 13-ounce servings of juice, which means you’ll drink one serving every 2-3 hours if you start at 8 a.m. and finish between 6-8 p.m. You should also drink plenty of water and herbal tea during the cleanse in order to maintain energy levels. Load Up on Veggies Vegetables such as spinach, kale, cucumber, celery, carrots, and beets should make up about 80% of your juice. Aim to add low sugar fruits like blackberries, raspberries, blueberries, and kiwi to your juices to boost flavor. Add Something Solid One of the toughest parts about doing a juice cleanse is the desire to chew something when we’re hungry. If you feel an intense need to chew, or if you recognize that you need some additional sustenance, go for something crunchy like carrots, celery, or cucumber. These vegetables, which contain a significant amount of water, will help you feel fuller and satisfy the need to chew without disrupting the nutrient absorption that occurs during a cleanse. Avoid Vigorous Exercise If vigorous workouts like HIIT or heavy weight lifting are part of your exercise routine, it is important to avoid these energy consuming activities during a juice fast. Opt instead for a walk around the neighborhood, gentle yoga, or a light workout on the elliptical. Overdoing it could leave you feeling dizzy, lightheaded, or zapped of energy. After Your Juice Cleanse Eat Small In the days that follow your cleanse, you’ll want to slowly introduce solid foods back into your system. To avoid an upset stomach or bowel issues, eat small meals and snacks consisting of nutritious, whole foods like fruits, vegetables, legumes, eggs, and other natural sources of fiber and protein. No matter what your juice cleanse goals are, What’s Juicin's Unleash Life juice cleanse kits are packed with the high quality, organic nutrients that your body needs to attain them. Our cold-pressed, raw, organic ingredients are thoughtfully combined to create a variety of nutritious and delicious juices to drink throughout your cleanse. Why are Cold Pressed Juices Superior?

If working out is part of your typical routine, then you might be wondering if you can still push yourself physically while on a juice cleanse. Juicing and exercise are both great for improving overall health, and while they both help to accomplish health goals, your exercise regimen may need to be modified during a juice cleanse. What Kind of Exercise is Best During a Juice Cleanse? The good news is that you don’t have to cut out exercising completely during the cleanse period. In fact, exercising promotes the excretion of toxins from the body through sweat and is helpful in increasing the effects of a juice cleanse. However, there are some dos and don’ts when it comes to the types of exercise you should choose. Do: Incorporate low-impact and lower intensity workouts like walking, yoga or Pilates. These workouts will allow you to continue to move your body, sweat, and maintain strength while preserving your energy. In addition to conserving energy, be sure to stay hydrated throughout the day by drinking plenty of water and herbal tea, especially if you’re including a workout. Don’t: Push your body through HIIT, Tabata, or heavy lifting workouts. These demanding workouts could leave you feeling dizzy, dehydrated, and zapped of energy. Hold off on these until you’re finished with the juice cleanse and have returned to fueling your body with a normal amount of calories. Do: Stretch and use a foam roller each day. These activities will encourage muscle recovery, relieve soreness, and improve circulation. Don’t: Exercise on an empty stomach. Outside of a juice cleanse, this practice is not necessarily a bad idea, but because you’re already taking in less energy than you normally would, exercising first thing in the morning before drinking one of your juices could leave you with low blood sugar and feeling nauseous or shaky. Don’t derail your goals. Fill yourself up with the first juice of the day before you tackle a sweat session. Your blood sugar levels will be more stable, and your body will have a source of energy for your workout and the remainder of the day. Do: Ease back into your higher intensity routine. For a few days after your juice cleanse, continue to take it easy with swimming, light jogging, or light weight lifting until your body has regained the energy stores needed to perform high level, lengthy workouts. Don’t: Worry about what your fitness tracker says. Take a break from measuring your success based on the numbers. Know that you’re doing something good for your body and mind regardless of how many steps you take or calories you burn in a day. Do: Enjoy the break, savor the downtime, and allow yourself to fully reap the benefits of a juice cleanse. The world will be waiting when you return. You may be wondering what turmeric is and how it can benefit your health. This traditional Indian and Asian spice has long been used to give flavor and color to many dishes, but, due to its main component, curcumin, it also has amazing abilities that may help treat and prevent common diseases and ailments. Curcumin is a naturally occurring antioxidant found in turmeric, and it is the key to turmeric’s healing power. Turmeric and Your Health Exactly what health issues can turmeric prevent or reverse? Here are the most common effects of regular turmeric consumption: Anti-Inflammatory Properties- Curcumin’s anti-inflammatory properties are beneficial for a host of diseases such as inflammatory bowel disease, arthritis, and pancreatitis. Its ability to reduce inflammation is equal to and possibly more powerful than that of NSAIDs like ibuprofen and aspirin. Heart Disease Prevention- Studies of curcumin’s effect on the endothelial membrane, the thin membrane that covers the inside of the heart and blood vessels and regulates blood pressure, show that it improves the function of this membrane and helps protect the heart against loss of function due to age. Cancer Prevention- By interfering with the formation of cancerous cells in all stages of the cell cycle, disrupting cell signaling pathways, and destroying cancerous cells, curcumin can play a significant role in preventing, and possibly treating, cancer. Osteoarthritis/Rheumatoid Arthritis Relief- With regular doses of curcumin or medications containing curcumin, many study participants have realized a dramatic reduction in joint stiffness, pain, and swelling and a significant increase in their ability to move and function on a daily basis. Diabetes Prevention- Studies in mice have shown that curcumin effectively reduces blood sugar and increases plasma insulin. Its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties could be key in controlling factors like insulin resistance, high blood sugar, and hyperlipidemia, which can all lead to the development of diabetes. Alzheimer's Prevention and Depression Treatment - Low levels of BDNF, a protein found in brain and spinal cord nerve cells, is directly associated with the development of Alzheimer’s disease and depression. Turmeric increases BDNF, helping to maintain the healthy, high functioning nerve cells essential for retaining and recalling information, and it has also been shown to significantly lessen depression symptoms. Clearly, turmeric is a beneficial substance that can better our health in many ways and keep us from becoming sick. The most beneficial way to experience the powers of turmeric is to consume fresh turmeric root because it is easily broken down by the body and enters the bloodstream quickly. At What’s Juicin’ we only use raw, organic ingredients, including the turmeric found in many of our products, because our goal is to maximize the effectiveness of each of our ingredients and provide our customers the highest quality juice around. We offer a variety of juices that include this amazing ingredient, so take a look at our full menu. We’re sure you’ll find one you love! *These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease.
